ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has stated that Pakistan’s armed forces are delivering a full and effective response to what he termed as unprovoked firing along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
In an official statement regarding the prevailing situation on the Pak-Afghan border, the minister said that the Afghan Taliban regime initiated the firing and that Pakistan’s professional forces responded decisively. He emphasized that such actions would continue to ensure the defense of the country’s territorial integrity.
The Information Minister alleged that false and baseless propaganda was being spread by the Afghan Taliban regime and amplified by certain Indian social media accounts, asserting that such claims had no connection with ground realities. He said the disinformation campaign was aimed at covering up setbacks faced on the ground.
Tarar maintained that after suffering defeat in the field, the Afghan Taliban regime was resorting to lies and propaganda but would not be allowed to conceal facts behind misinformation. He added that Pakistan’s forces were successfully thwarting the intentions of the attackers.
According to confirmed information shared by the minister, 36 operatives of the Afghan Taliban regime were killed during action by the Pakistan Army, while several others sustained injuries.
He further stated that two soldiers of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom while defending the homeland, and three others were injured during the exchange of fire.
The minister also highlighted that Pakistan had recently carried out successful operations against terrorists described as Fitna al-Khawarij, who had been involved in attacks against innocent civilians, particularly within Pakistan. He alleged that firing from the Afghan side in support of these elements had once again exposed the Afghan Taliban regime’s backing of militants.
Tarar urged Afghanistan to learn from past setbacks and cautioned that any hostile designs against Pakistan would be met with a firm and decisive response.
