ISLAMABAD: A strong earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale was recorded on April 3, 2026, at 21:13 PST, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

The earthquake had a depth of 190 kilometers, with its epicenter located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan (Latitude: 36.48°N, Longitude: 70.84°E).

Tremors were widely felt across several parts of northern Pakistan, including Islamabad, Chitral, Peshawar, Swat, and Shangla, causing panic among residents who rushed out of their homes and workplaces.

No immediate reports of casualties or damage have been received so far. Authorities are monitoring the situation and have advised the public to remain calm and take necessary precautions.

The PMD continues to assess seismic activity in the region.
