KARAK: The Department of Library and Information Sciences (DLISc) at Khushal Khan Khattak University, Karak, officially inaugurated its two-day international conference today. The event, titled “Libraries in Transition: Harnessing AI for Knowledge Access,” is scheduled to run through April 2, 2026.
The opening ceremony was graced by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khalily as the Chief Guest. The session was presided over by the Head of Department, Dr. Saeed Ullah Jan, who welcomed the distinguished guests and participants while outlining the core objectives and vision of the conference.
In his keynote address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khalily emphasized the transformative power of technology in academia:
“In the current era, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is radically changing the landscape of knowledge access. The field of Library Sciences sits at the heart of this evolution. International forums like this are vital for academic and research advancement, offering our students and faculty a unique opportunity to learn from the expertise of global pioneers.”
The conference features a robust lineup of international speakers participating via video link. These global experts presented their latest research on Digital Information Management,AI-Driven Knowledge Access and the Evolving Role of Information Sciences.
The ceremony saw a large turnout of faculty members, researchers, and students, all of whom lauded the initiative as a significant milestone for the university’s research culture.
The organizers have confirmed that the second day of the conference will continue tomorrow, featuring a series of technical sessions, research paper presentations, and interactive panel discussions. The inaugural event concluded with a formal vote of thanks to the Chief Guest and all participants for their contribution to the success of the program.
