Peshawar: The Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) of Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) organized a free Hepatitis C screening camp aimed at promoting early detection, raising public awareness, and improving access to advanced treatment options.
The camp was conducted under the supervision of Director Research, Dr. Naila Irum Hadi, Assistant Manager CTU Yasir Ashraf while Dr. Taimur led the research initiative. A large number of citizens participated in the camp and showed keen interest in learning about their health status.
During the camp, tests were conducted for more than 100 individuals between the ages of 18 and 85. According to the organizers, the objective of the screening drive was to identify patients who meet specific clinical criteria so they can be enrolled in an ongoing clinical research program.
A spokesperson stated that selected patients who test positive and meet eligibility criteria will be provided free treatment, offering significant support to patients and serving as an effective step in combating Hepatitis C — a silent yet potentially dangerous disease.
A participant at the camp appreciated the initiative, stating that he had long suspected he might be suffering from Hepatitis C, but now, through proper laboratory testing, he would finally know the reality. He added that such initiatives make it easier for the general public to access essential healthcare services.
Medical experts highlighted that Hepatitis C can affect the liver without showing clear symptoms in its early stages. Therefore, timely screening, accurate diagnosis, and prompt treatment are crucial. Such camps play an important role not only in early detection but also in guiding patients toward appropriate medical care.
RMI administration appreciated the participation of the community and the dedicated efforts of its medical and research teams. They emphasized that such public welfare initiatives are vital in promoting trust, awareness, and effective healthcare delivery.
