SHANGLA: Amir Muqam, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, said Pakistan has demonstrated its strength on the global stage by overcoming major challenges, sending a clear message of resilience and stability.

He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony held in Chakesar, Shangla, where he inaugurated the Jatkol Bridge, a project expected to significantly ease travel for residents of Jatkol and Masair villages. He also inaugurated the Koi Gharay Bridge, which will benefit nearby communities including Koi Gharay and Ona.

The minister said Pakistan is progressing on the path of development and stability under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif, adding that national unity and strong leadership have enabled the country to overcome major challenges. He noted that Pakistan’s global standing is improving and expressed optimism about continued progress.

Highlighting his personal commitment to development, Amir Muqam said the bridge projects were undertaken through his own efforts, and he has directed authorities to ensure timely completion of ongoing schemes. He claimed to have initiated over 100 road projects in Sirkol Union Council and pledged to continue addressing public issues.

He also criticized the previous government’s development record in the area, stating that his focus remains on practical work and service delivery rather than political rhetoric. Reflecting on past challenges, he said he faced investigations during the previous tenure but no corruption charges were proven. He also recalled his role during the 2010 floods, when he arranged private helicopter services to assist affected communities and patients.

The minister urged voters to support candidates based on performance and service delivery in the upcoming elections.

Local leaders, including Rashad Khan and Bakht Alam Khan, also addressed the gathering. Several local figures announced their decision to join the Pakistan Muslim League (N) on the occasion. The minister received a warm welcome upon his arrival in Chakesar.
