Peshawar: Senior lawyer and former spokesperson of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Muazzam Butt Advocate, has expressed serious concerns over governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stating that despite PTI being in power, the administrative system is effectively being run by the bureaucracy.

In a statement, Butt said this situation raises critical questions about decision-making and the overall functioning of the provincial government. He noted that the current governance structure appears imbalanced, with elected leadership not fully exercising its authority.

Commenting on efforts to secure the release of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Butt said the strategies adopted so far have failed to yield the desired results. While acknowledging that the matter ultimately rests with the courts, he emphasized that sustained public support and pressure can play a crucial role in expediting the process.

He also advised Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to steer clear of confrontational and tension-driven politics, urging instead a more inclusive approach. According to Butt, engaging all stakeholders through dialogue and consultation is essential for effective governance and political stability.

Highlighting the importance of civil-military relations, he stressed the need to restore ties with the military leadership. He suggested that constructive communication with relevant officials in Peshawar could pave the way for a more stable political and administrative environment.

Butt concluded by urging the political leadership to act with seriousness and wisdom, emphasizing that only a measured and strategic approach can improve governance and address the pressing issues faced by the public.
