Bajaur: A quarterly meeting of the central cabinet of the Tribal Union of Journalists (TUJ) was held at a local hotel in Peshawar under the chairmanship of President Hasbanullah, with cabinet members and senior leaders in attendance.
The meeting was attended by Senior Vice President Shakirullah Mohmand, Vice President Abuzar Afridi, General Secretary Muhammad Jameel, Finance Secretary Dildar Hussain, Qazi Fazalullah, Ashfaq Hussain and other senior members.
The session began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Special prayers were also offered for the departed soul of President Hasbanullah’s uncle, praying for his eternal peace and higher ranks in the hereafter.
On the occasion, General Secretary Muhammad Jameel presented the quarterly performance report and the organizational agenda, which were discussed in detail by the participants. The meeting particularly focused on the challenges, professional risks, and security concerns faced by journalists while performing their duties in the tribal districts.
Addressing the meeting, President Hasbanullah and other speakers stated that journalists in the tribal districts are carrying out their professional responsibilities under difficult and uncertain security conditions. They reaffirmed that the Tribal Union of Journalists would continue its efforts for the protection of journalists’ lives and property, as well as for the resolution of their professional issues and safeguarding of their rights.
The meeting also constituted a special committee comprising senior leaders to address several pending matters, assigning it important organizational and welfare-related responsibilities.
