PESHAWAR: Secretary Agriculture Dr. Muhammad Bakhtiar Khan has said that under instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and good governance road map Khuli Kachari are going on throughout the province. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is taking serious measures to provide modern agricultural facilities to farmers, ensure availability of quality seeds and improve irrigation system in order to enhance agricultural production and ensure farmers prosperity. He expressed these views during an Khuli Kachehri organized by Agriculture Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Naguman Farm Services Center in Peshawar to address farmers’ issues and promote the development of agricultural sector.
Khuli Kachari was attended by Secretary Agriculture Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Muhammad Bakhtiar Khan, Director General Agriculture Extension Dr. Muhammad Naveed, Director General Soil Conservation Muhammad Nazir, officials of Federal Seed Certification Department and a large number of farmers.
During the session, farmers raised various issues and questions related to agriculture, model farms, quality seeds, soil conservation and particularly irrigation. Participants highlighted that this area is facing severe irrigation problems and demanded the provision of solar tube wells and quality seeds to help increase agricultural productivity. farmers also stressed need for establishing model farms, providing modern agricultural facilities and taking further steps for development of agriculture sector.
Addressing the gathering, Secretary Agriculture Dr. Muhammad Bakhtiar Khan gave detailed responses to farmers questions and assured them that practical measures will be taken to resolve farmers issues and promote agricultural development.
On the occasion, Dr. Bakhtiar further stated that effective steps would also be taken to curb the sale and use of counterfeit fertilizers and fake pesticides to ensure the availability of quality agricultural inputs to farmers and effectively address the challenges faced by the agricultural sector.
