Bannu: A joint search and strike operation was conducted by Bannu Police and security forces in Domel, Akbar Ali Khan Kallay, Sadda Khel Wazir, Dogar Umarzai, and Sadrun.
Under the leadership of DPO Bannu Yasir Afridi, Bannu District Police and the CTD carried out the operation in and around these areas, where militants associated with Fitna al-Khawarij had allegedly established organized hideouts. The village of militant commander “Gidar” is also located in the same region.
Based on intelligence reports and prepared lists of facilitators and informants linked to the militants, house-to-house searches were conducted at homes and suspected hideouts. During the operation, 23 suspects were taken into custody.
The area was divided into two sectors during the operation. One sector was cordoned off by the police and CTD, while the other was sealed by security forces before search operations began. SP CTD Fazal Waheed Khan, SP City Tauheed Khan, SDPOs, QRF, RRF, armored vehicles, the bomb disposal unit, and women police personnel also participated in the operation.
Police surrounded the area from all sides and conducted a full-scale search operation, clearing regions considered to be under militant influence.
According to officials, the objective of the operation was to establish the writ of the state in the area, secure the Bannu Link Road, restrict militant movement, and eliminate potential threats. Before the police advance, the militants reportedly fled the area fearing an encounter.
During the operation, several key suspects accused of facilitating militants were arrested on the spot. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities expect further important revelations.
DPO Yasir Afridi stated that Bannu Police will continue indiscriminate actions against terrorists, miscreants, and their facilitators. He added that all available resources are being utilized to maintain peace and order across the district, protect the lives and property of citizens, and completely eliminate terrorist elements.
