DERA ISMAIL KHAN: On the appeal of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, Jamaat-e-Islami Dera organized a protest demonstration and rally at Topanwala Chowk against rising inflation, increase in petroleum product prices, and prevailing unrest.
The rally was led by Jamaat-e-Islami District Ameer Manzar Masood Khattak, while Tehsil Ameer Professor Asad Jan, Political Affairs In-charge Zahid Mohibullah, Youth President Shoaib Awan, and other party leaders also addressed the participants.
Speakers strongly criticized the continuous rise in fuel prices, stating that linking price hikes with external conflicts reflects the government’s failure to manage the economy. They alleged that the burden of inflation is being shifted onto the public to cover state expenditures.
They said that industries are closing, businesses are suffering losses, farmers are facing hardships, and the general public is struggling with rising costs, while the ruling elite continues extravagant spending.
The speakers further stated that IMF approval is required for relief measures and salary increases, while decisions involving billions of rupees in expenditures are made without consultation.
They also expressed concern over increasing unrest and corruption in the province, alleging that despite repeated demands for action, no practical steps are taken by authorities.
Participants of the rally raised strong slogans against the government and demanded an immediate reduction in petroleum prices along with urgent measures to address public grievances.
