DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Renowned religious scholar Qari Abdul Manan, originally from Dera Ismail Khan and currently residing in the United States, has emphasized the importance of religious education alongside modern academic learning, urging parents to pay special attention to connecting their children with the Holy Quran.
He expressed these views while addressing the Hifz-e-Quran completion ceremony of his grandson, Hafiz Saeed Abdul Basit, held at a local hall in Dera Ismail Khan.
Hafiz Saeed Abdul Basit is the son of renowned US-based physician Dr. Abdul Basit and the grandson of Principal Government Higher Secondary School No. 2 (Islamia), Qari Muhammad Usman.
The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Qari Abdul Latif.
A large number of scholars, government officials, lawyers, traders, social figures, relatives, and community members attended the event. Among the prominent attendees were Pakistan Peoples Party Divisional President and District Bar President Sardar Qaizar Miankhel, PML-N District President Rehan Malik Rudikhel, Habibullah Sial, Advocate Umair Habib Sial, Talha Habib Sial, DRC member Dr. Abdullah Zafri, Central Traders Union President Hamid Ali Rahmani, and CEO Media Homes Muhammad Rehan.
Addressing the gathering, Qari Abdul Manan said that while many parents send their children abroad for higher education, they should not neglect religious education. He noted that despite living in the United States, his grandson successfully memorized the Holy Quran, demonstrating that religious and worldly education can be pursued simultaneously regardless of where one resides.
He stated that worldly education helps individuals achieve professional and economic success, while religious education serves as a means of spiritual development and success in the Hereafter. Therefore, he stressed, a balanced combination of both forms of education is essential in today’s world.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, participants congratulated Hafiz Saeed Abdul Basit on his remarkable achievement. Renowned religious scholar Khalil Ahmed Siraj offered special prayers and presented a garland to the young Hafiz in recognition of his accomplishment.
