The city is hosting the All Pakistan Under-19 Badminton Invitational Tournament, National Karate Championship, National Junior Table Tennis Championship, All Pakistan Volleyball Tournament, and the 6th National Junior Athletics Championship, attracting male and female athletes from across the country. Participants are expected to showcase their talent and compete for national honors in their respective disciplines.

The grand opening ceremony will be held this evening at Qayyum Sports Complex, where Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi will attend as the chief guest. Extensive preparations have been completed to ensure the successful conduct of the competitions. Karate and badminton events will take place at Qayyum Stadium, while athletics contests will be held on the modern tartan track of Qayyum Football Stadium. The Pakistan Sports Board Coaching Centre will host the volleyball matches. Meanwhile, the All Pakistan Squash Tournament has already concluded successfully.

The entire Qayyum Sports Complex has been transformed into a vibrant sporting venue. Colorful flexes, banners, and signboards featuring national athletes have been installed throughout the complex, creating an inspiring atmosphere for participants and spectators alike. Organizers believe the decorations will boost the morale of young athletes and motivate them to deliver their best performances.

Teams representing various provinces and regions have already arrived in Peshawar. Players and officials have expressed enthusiasm about participating in the championships, appreciating the city’s hospitality, sports-friendly environment, and well-organized arrangements.

Adding to the excitement is the pleasant June weather, which has provided favorable conditions for athletes. Compared to previous years, temperatures have remained relatively moderate, allowing competitors to perform in a more comfortable environment. While some consider it a stroke of good fortune, others credit the organizers’ careful planning and selection of the right time for the events.

Sports experts believe that the simultaneous hosting of multiple national championships will further strengthen Peshawar’s reputation as a sports-loving city and project a positive image of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa across the country. More importantly, the events will provide a valuable platform for emerging talent to gain exposure and progress to higher levels of competition.

With thousands of athletes, officials, and sports enthusiasts converging on the city, Peshawar’s sports venues are expected to witness thrilling contests and memorable performances over the coming days, reaffirming the city’s status as one of Pakistan’s leading centers for sports development.
