PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Labour, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Khan Tarakai, held a meeting with a delegation from the International Labour Organization (ILO). The meeting focused on workers’ welfare, the promotion of safe and decent employment opportunities, strengthening social protection mechanisms, and enhancing the institutional capacity of the Labour Department.

On the occasion, the Provincial Minister reaffirmed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government’s commitment to safeguarding workers’ rights, improving social security services, and implementing labour reforms in line with international standards. He stated that the government is utilizing all available resources to provide better healthcare, social protection, and legal support to the working class.

The two sides also agreed to further strengthen mutual cooperation and promote technical assistance across various sectors of the Labour Department. In this regard, it was decided that a specialized training workshop for doctors of the Employees’ Social Security Institution (ESSI) will be held on July 8 2026. The workshop aims to enhance the professional capacity of medical practitioners, familiarize them with modern healthcare practices, and improve the quality of medical services provided under the social security system.

The ILO delegation appreciated the initiatives undertaken by the Provincial Government and the Labour Department for the welfare of workers and expressed its commitment to further strengthening cooperation in the future.
