CHARSADDA: The Charsadda Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) has termed prolonged and unscheduled electricity load-shedding an “economic murder” of local industries and demanded its immediate end, warning of a nationwide protest if the issue is not resolved.
Addressing a press conference, CCCI President Sikandar Khan and other business leaders said the ongoing power crisis has severely affected industries, businesses and agriculture, particularly the Charsadda chappal manufacturing sector, a major source of local employment.
The Chamber announced that it would soon hold a joint meeting with district authorities, WAPDA officials and elected representatives to seek a solution. It warned that failure to address the issue would force the business community to launch a nationwide protest campaign in coordination with chambers of commerce across Pakistan.
