He stressed that awareness, early diagnosis, and timely treatment are essential to controlling the spread of HIV and improving health outcomes across the province.
The Minister shared that 10,655 people are currently registered as living with HIV in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while an estimated 39,000 people may be living with the infection. During the event, officials from Blue Veins delivered a detailed presentation on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa HIV and AIDS Bill, 2019, highlighting its key provisions aimed at protecting the rights of people living with HIV, preventing discrimination, safeguarding confidentiality, and strengthening the legal framework for HIV prevention and treatment in the province.
The Minister appreciated the valuable contributions of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women, Blue Veins, development partners, civil society organizations, and healthcare workers for their continued support in promoting awareness, protecting vulnerable populations, and improving service delivery across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
