PESHAWAR: Islamia College Peshawar organized a prestigious ceremony and luncheon in honor of Pakistan national football team coach and former national captain Aslam Khan to celebrate the team’s historic victory in the Diamond Jubilee International Football Tournament recently held in the Maldives.

The event was hosted by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ahmad Rahman Seljuqi, who paid glowing tribute to Aslam Khan, the Pakistan national football team and the Pakistan Football Federation for bringing international recognition to the country through their outstanding performance.

Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Rahman Seljuqi said the team’s remarkable achievement is a matter of immense pride for the entire nation. He described Aslam Khan as a dedicated, talented and highly experienced coach whose professional expertise, strategic planning and leadership have given Pakistan football a new identity on the international stage.

He particularly appreciated the team’s exceptional defensive performance throughout the tournament, noting that not conceding a single goal reflected not only the players’ hard work but also the coaching staff’s excellent planning, discipline and mental preparation.

The Vice Chancellor said Islamia College Peshawar takes pride in its distinguished sons who continue to raise Pakistan’s green flag across the world. He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to promoting sports, supporting young talent and recognizing national heroes for their outstanding contributions.

He further stated that both former and current students of Islamia College Peshawar have excelled in various fields, including sports, bringing honor to the institution through their achievements at the national and international levels.

Director Sports Ali Hoti said the university organizes sports competitions, training camps and coaching programmes throughout the year to nurture young athletes. He added that former national and international players are regularly invited to share their experience and skills with students, helping prepare the next generation of sports stars.

The ceremony was also attended by Director Sports, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Abdul Ghaffar Chandio, Deputy Registrar Muhammad Shabbir, and other distinguished guests, who congratulated Aslam Khan and the Pakistan football team on their historic success.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ahmad Rahman Seljuqi presented Aslam Khan with a framed photograph of the historic Islamia College Peshawar building as a commemorative gift in recognition of his valuable services to Pakistan football. He also expressed his best wishes for Aslam Khan’s continued success in promoting the game and bringing further glory to the country.
