ISLAMABAD: Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka solemnly observed Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir to commemorate India’s unilateral actions of August 5, 2019. High Commissioner Imran Haider welcomed participants, while messages from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar were read on the occasion.

The messages reiterated that India’s unilateral actions, including the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, cannot alter the internationally recognized disputed status of Jammu and Kashmir. They reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering political, diplomatic, and moral support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination in accordance with the UN Charter and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

A photo exhibition portraying the hardships of the Kashmiri people and a documentary highlighting human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir were presented during the event.

Members of the Pakistani community, media representatives, and guests from different walks of life attended the ceremony, expressing solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Special prayers were offered for the martyrs and for peace, justice, and the realization of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
