ISLAMABAD: Ambassador Akamatsu, along with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) President Dr. Akihiko Tanaka, met with Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema to reaffirm the longstanding partnership between Japan and Pakistan.
During the meeting, both sides appreciated the significant contribution of Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA), which has supported Pakistan’s nation-building and socio-economic development since 1954. They acknowledged Japan’s continued assistance in strengthening Pakistan’s infrastructure, disaster resilience, education, healthcare, and economic growth.
The participants also exchanged views on further enhancing bilateral cooperation and agreed to deepen collaboration in key development sectors. They reiterated their shared commitment to expanding the longstanding friendship between the two countries and promoting sustainable development through continued partnership.
The meeting concluded with a mutual resolve to strengthen Japan-Pakistan relations and explore new avenues of cooperation for the benefit of both nations.
