Residents demand immediate repair, reinstallation of barbed wire to strengthen security

PESHAWAR: Serious concerns have been raised over the deteriorating security situation in Hayatabad, as the boundary wall of the posh residential area has reportedly been breached at several points, while more than half of the barbed wire installed along the wall has allegedly been removed by thieves, drug addicts and scrap collectors.
Residents said the damaged boundary wall and missing barbed wire had left large parts of Hayatabad vulnerable to the entry of unauthorized and criminal elements, creating a sense of fear and insecurity among the local population.
They alleged that the PDA administration had failed to take timely measures to repair the damaged portions of the boundary wall and restore the security arrangements, leaving residents at the mercy of thieves, robbers, smugglers and drug dealers.
Local residents have also protested against what they termed the administration’s negligence and poor security arrangements.
According to residents, the deteriorating security situation has made Hayatabad increasingly vulnerable, with incidents of theft, robbery and other crimes reportedly on the rise.
They demanded that the entire boundary wall be repaired on an emergency basis and strong barbed wire be reinstalled to prevent the entry of unauthorized persons and criminal elements into the residential area.
The residents maintained that no compromise should be made on the security of Hayatabad, where a large number of educated families reside, adding that ensuring their protection was a fundamental responsibility of the provincial government and the local administration.
