PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Region clinched the Kabaddi Challenge Cup held as part of the Independence Day Sports Festival organised by the Directorate General of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In a thrilling final, Peshawar Region defeated Lakki Marwat 50-44 to lift the trophy.
The final, played at Peshawar Sports Complex, witnessed an exciting contest as players from both sides displayed excellent skills. Superb raids and strong defensive play kept the match highly competitive, while thousands of spectators at the ground cheered passionately for their respective teams.
At the end of the match, Peshawar Region secured victory with 50 points, while Lakki Marwat finished runners-up with 44 points.
Advisor for Sports and Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand, the chief guest, distributed the trophy and prizes among the victorious players. Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tashfeen Haider, Provincial Kabaddi Association President Arbab Naseer, General Secretary Sultan Bari and other sports personalities were also present.
Addressing the ceremony, Advisor Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand congratulated both teams for their impressive performance. He said that organising sports activities on Independence Day helps promote patriotism, positive thinking and healthy activities among young people. He added that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was taking comprehensive measures to promote sports and provide better opportunities to young athletes.
