PESHAWAR: The Jashn-e-Azadi Inter-Club Tennis Championship, organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tennis Association, concluded successfully with the participation of 16 teams from across the province. Haji Umar Khan Club won the championship after defeating Inayat Club in the final.
In the final, Shayan Afridi defeated Hamza 6–1, 6–2, while Abdul Rehman Afridi beat Arsalan 6–3, 6–3. Haji Umar Khan Club delivered an impressive overall performance to secure the title.
In the semi-finals, Haji Malik Umar Khan Club defeated Haji Kachkool Khan Club 2–0. Shayan Afridi defeated Ahmed Ahsan 6–1, 6–2, while Abdul Rehman Afridi beat Rayan 6–1, 6–2. In other matches, Hamza defeated Ahmed 6–4, 7–5, while Arsalan overcame Dawood 6–3, 6–4.
In the Women’s Wheelchair final, Taj Meena defeated Marwa 6–1, 6–2 to claim the title. In the Under-14 Doubles final, Haroon and Ahsan defeated Ibrahim and Abdullah 7–5, 6–4 to win the championship.
At the closing ceremony, Deputy Director Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Kashif Farhan and Chief Coach Sports Directorate Shafqatullah Khan distributed prizes, medals and certificates among the successful players. The champion received a cash prize of Rs. 8,000, while the runner-up was awarded Rs. 6,000.
Senior Vice President of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tennis Association Umar Ayaz Khalil, coaches Zakir, Israr, Noman, Jawad and Shahid, along with other officials and prominent members of the tennis community, were also present.
The officials appreciated the performances of the players and highlighted the importance of organizing sports competitions on Independence Day to engage young people in healthy and positive activities.
