PESHAWAR: The first Grandmaster Rahimullah Memorial Peshawar ITF Taekwondo Inter-Club Championship concluded successfully in Peshawar, with nearly 200 male and female athletes participating in various categories.
Organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ITF Taekwondo Association in collaboration with the District ITF Taekwondo Association, the championship featured highly competitive final bouts among men, women and cadet athletes. The participants demonstrated impressive technical skills, physical fitness and fighting abilities, keeping spectators engaged throughout the competitions.
A special ITF Taekwondo martial arts demonstration was also presented during the closing ceremony and received widespread appreciation from the guests, athletes and spectators.
The chief guest at the closing ceremony was Pakistan ITF Taekwondo Federation President Rana Sadaqat Ali. Other prominent guests included Nishat Shaheen, Managing Director of Naveera Private Limited; Matiullah Marwat, Advocate; and Atifa Yousafzai, Assistant Director Administration and Operations at the Directorate of Youth Affairs, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Speaking to the media, KP ITF Taekwondo Association Chairman Naveed Habibi said the athletes displayed an outstanding level of performance and technical expertise during the championship, which, he added, reflected the rapidly growing popularity of ITF Taekwondo in the province.
He said public interest in ITF Taekwondo was increasing day by day, while the association was making efforts to provide equal training and competitive opportunities to male and female athletes across all districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Naveed Habibi stressed that engaging young people in sports activities was the need of the hour. He said martial arts not only promote discipline, self-confidence and physical fitness among young people but also provide them with opportunities to represent Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at national and international levels.
The participation of female athletes was particularly appreciated during the championship. The organizers expressed their commitment to providing women with greater opportunities in ITF Taekwondo and other martial arts disciplines in the future.
