CONAKRY: Guinea has reaffirmed its firm and consistent support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, describing autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty as the only solution to the dispute.

The position was reiterated during the 8th session of the Morocco-Guinea Joint Cooperation Commission in Conakry, co-chaired by Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and Guinean Foreign Minister Dr. Morissanda Kouyaté.

Kouyaté said Guinea’s support for Morocco’s position was unwavering and highlighted the opening of Guinea’s Consulate General in Dakhla in January 2020 as a concrete expression of solidarity.

Bourita thanked Guinea for its consistent support in regional and international forums and welcomed its continued backing of Morocco’s position on the Sahara issue.
