ISLAMABAD: An unusual incident involving the police department has reportedly surfaced in Bannu, where DSP Headquarters Rahmatullah Khan was allegedly kept in a police cell for five days before being recovered by a court bailiff.
According to sources, the DSP was allegedly confined to a cell at the premises of a senior police officer, where he remained for several days. Following intervention by Advocate Haji Shoaib, a court bailiff reportedly conducted proceedings and recovered the DSP from the alleged illegal detention.
Sources said various allegations had been levelled against the DSP; however, no conclusive evidence regarding these allegations has so far been made public.
The incident has raised questions within police circles about why a serving police officer was allegedly kept in a cell for several days instead of being dealt with through established legal and departmental procedures.
Sources described Rahmatullah Khan as a dutiful and honest officer, while concern has reportedly emerged among police officials following the incident.
The matter has now attracted the attention of senior police authorities, and further developments are expected.
