MARDAN: Residents of Jhamodar Kali in Mardan have protested against a possible eviction from their ancestral lands and urged the government and Revenue Department to resolve the dispute strictly in accordance with official revenue records and registered mutations.
Speaking during the protest, Sher Jan, Sirajuddin, Munir Khan, Ziarat Khan, Gulzada, Safdar and other residents said their families had been living in Jhamodar Kali for more than a century. They claimed that official revenue records showed the disputed lands had been transferred in the names of their forefathers.
The residents alleged that certain influential individuals were attempting to occupy the land, creating uncertainty for local families and threatening the future of their children.
They said they would not surrender their ancestral properties and warned that any attempt to forcibly evict them would face strong resistance.
The protesters called on the government and the Revenue Department to conduct a transparent inquiry, determine the rightful owners on the basis of official records and provide justice to the affected families.
