BAJAUR: Haji Suleman, President of the Petrol Pumps Association Bajaur, has questioned the effectiveness of the government’s announced petrol subsidy, saying many consumers in Bajaur may be unable to benefit due to vehicle ownership and registration requirements.
In an interview, he said a large number of vehicles in the district are non-custom-paid or not registered in the names of their actual users, making subsidy access difficult.
Suleman said higher petrol prices in Bajaur are largely linked to transportation costs. He also highlighted challenges faced by petrol dealers due to frequent price fluctuations and urged the government to review the subsidy mechanism.
He called for a consumer-friendly relief system that considers the ground realities of remote and tribal districts, ensuring ordinary people in Bajaur can benefit from government assistance.
