Gold Medalist Shams-ul-Arifeen Gets Rs50,000 Award

PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Forests and Climate Change Pir Musawir Shah and Secretary Forests and Climate Change Junaid Khan have announced a cash award of Rs50,000 for Peshawar’s international karate player Shams-ul-Arifeen for winning a gold medal at the International Full Contact Shinkyokushin Karate Championship in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka.

Representing Pakistan, Shams-ul-Arifeen secured the gold medal in the Kata category and a silver medal in Kumite at the international championship.

Shams-ul-Arifeen, accompanied by his coach Sahibzada Al-Hadi, met Pir Musawir Shah and Junaid Khan. During the meeting, the minister and secretary presented him with a trophy and announced the cash award in recognition of his achievements.

Pir Musawir Shah and Junaid Khan said athletes who bring honour to Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at international competitions were a national asset and deserved encouragement and support.

Coach Sahibzada Al-Hadi thanked the provincial minister and secretary for recognising the athlete’s achievement, saying such encouragement would motivate young people to participate in sports and strive for further success at national and international levels.
