MARDAN: Commissioner Reviews Water Flow Situation in Kalpani Nullah Amidst Flood Concerns۔
In the wake of the current weather conditions and potential flood threats,
Commissioner Mardan Division Nisar Ahmed, reviewed the situation by inspecting various points along Kalpani Nullah to assess the water flow and risks faced by the local population. Deputy Commissioner Mardan, Wasif Rahman, Secretary to Commissioner Fazal Wahid, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dawood Khan, and officers from the Irrigation Department accompanied him during the visit.
The Commissioner observed the flow of water at key locations, including Baghdada, Mayar, Toru, and Ghala Dher. Officials briefed him that the water flow in Kalpani Nullah is currently normal, however there was a slight increase in water levels earlier in the morning.
Commissioner Nisar Ahmed directed the Irrigation Department to provide detailed reports to the Commissioner’s Office regarding all flood protection projects completed in Mardan city and its suburbs over the past five years. He stressed that all necessary measures must be taken to protect the city from potential flooding.
During his visit, the Commissioner interacted with residents living near Kalpani Nullah and urged them to adopt precautionary measures in light of recent rains and flood threats. He especially advised parents not to allow children near the nullah.
At Baghdada Bridge, Commissioner Nisar Ahmed also met with the on-duty gauge reader from the Irrigation Department and the Rescue 1122 emergency team. He instructed personnel from both departments to remain alert and fully prepared for any emergency situation.
