Vice Chancellor Leads Push for Academic Excellence and Modernization

MARDAN: The Syndicate of the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Mardan, under the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Muhammad Khan, held a high-level meeting that marked a strategic turning point in the university’s development trajectory. The session was attended by esteemed members including Justice (R) Irshad Qaiser, Prof. Dr. Jamil (Vice Chancellor, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan), Mr. Javed Iqbal (Additional Secretary, Higher Education Department), Mr. Abdul Ahad (Nominee of Secretary Establishment Department), Miss Warda (Nominee of Secretary Finance Department), Mr. Hassan Ali Khan (Senior Associate, Prime Minister’s Office), Prof. Dr. Sadaqat Jan (Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Computing), and other key stakeholders.

The Syndicate approved a transformative agenda introducing advanced undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, and Computer Engineering, alongside the establishment of a Centre of Artificial Intelligence to position UET Mardan as a regional leader in high-tech innovation and international collaboration. Approvals were granted for a university-wide digitalization strategy to ensure transparency and governance efficiency, while significant infrastructure upgrades—smart classrooms, modern libraries, enhanced hostels, and dynamic cafeterias—were sanctioned to enhance the student experience. New development initiatives under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model were also approved to diversify revenue streams and strengthen industry engagement.

Further decisions included the establishment of two key directorates—ORIC and QEC—to elevate research output, quality assurance, and innovation ecosystems. A forward-looking Consultancy Policy was introduced to enable faculty engagement with global funding bodies and industry-led projects. Additionally, all academic programs were aligned with market demands through a modern, industry-driven curriculum. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Gul Muhammad Khan emphasized that these strategic reforms lay a bold foundation for transforming UET Mardan into a center of excellence, producing future-ready graduates and technology leaders.
