KOHAT: In order to ensure the peaceful and organized observance of Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA) 2025, a divisional level Grand Jirga was convened under the chairmanship of the Commissioner Kohat Division, Syed Motasim Billah Shah at Commissioner House Kohat on Monday. The meeting beside others, was also attended by the prominent Ulema and elders of both Sunni and Shia communities from the districts of Kohat, Orakzai, and Hangu, Deputy Commissioner Kohat Rahimullah Mehsud, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kohat Hamid Iqbal, officers from the police and civil administration, as well as representatives from various schools of thought and walks of life. At the outset, the Commissioner explained the purpose of the Jirga, stating that in the peaceful holding of the recent Muharram-ul-Haram was made possible through exemplary cooperation among the civil administration, police, Pakistan Army, other security agencies, religious scholars of both Sunni and Shia sects, the business community, transport unions, lawyers, and civil society. As a result, no untoward incident occurred. He extended his congratulations to all institutions and communities for their role in successfully maintaining peace. The Commissioner remarked that the treacherous enemy, India, having failed to confront us in conventional warfare where our brave forces humbled them within just three days which is unable to digest this humiliating defeat. Consequently, it seeks to sow discord and create division among our people. Therefore, it is essential that we remain vigilant and united at all times, thwarting the nefarious designs of the enemy. Expressing confidence, he said that, just as Muharram-ul-Haram passed peacefully, Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA) will also be observed in an atmosphere of peace and safety, with all stakeholders continuing to demonstrate unity and solidarity. The Commissioner issued special directives to the district administration to ensure all possible facilities for mourners, including cleanliness along procession routes, adequate lighting, medical facilities, security arrangements, provision of drinking water, and other basic necessities at Imam Bargahs and on the routes of processions. At the end, all the participants reaffirmed their commitment to continue extending full cooperation for the maintenance of peace and promotion of sectarian harmony in the region. Special Dua was also offered the integrity and solidarity of the area and peace in the region.
