Peshawar: The Secured IoT Devices (SID) Lab at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar hosted an academic delegation from the Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST), Islamabad, in a bid to strengthen inter-institutional collaboration and showcase cutting-edge research initiatives.
The visit commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. Safdar Nawaz Khan, Director of the SID Lab. In his remarks, Dr. Khan emphasized the importance of collaborative research, innovation in secure technologies, and fostering academic partnerships to address future challenges. He also highlighted the historical evolution of UET Peshawar. He outlined the university’s broader vision and mission, underscoring its commitment to academic excellence, applied research, and technological advancement.

Dr. Amaad Khalil from the Department of Computer Systems Engineering followed with an engaging presentation about the department, and shed light on the academic and research activities taking place.

The visiting team then embarked on a guided tour of several premier research facilities across the university. At the CISCO Lab, Engineer Ihsan ul Haq provided an overview of current technological implementations and ongoing training modules, particularly in the areas of networking and cybersecurity.
The delegation next visited the National Centre for Cyber Security (NCCS), where the team of Professor Dr. Sadeeq Jan offered insights into advanced cybersecurity projects, national-level initiatives, and collaborative research platforms supported by the centre.
On the visit to National Centre of Big Data and Cloud Computing (NCBC), Dr. Nasru Minallah introduced the visitors to ongoing research in big data analytics, AI applications, and cloud infrastructure. He also discussed upcoming projects aimed at integrating large-scale data processing into real-world industry and government applications.
Last but not least, delegates visited Secured IoT Devices (SID) Lab where Engr. Ilham, Talha, Masood, Sudais, Ibad and Saira presented a detailed briefing about the lab, its accomplishments, ongoing projects such as UAV Quadcopter Drone, STEM Projects, and Smart Container.
The exchange served as a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, academic networking, and exploring avenues for joint ventures and collaborative innovation between CUST and UET Peshawar.
The event reaffirmed the university’s commitment to building bridges between academic institutions and promoting a research-driven culture across Pakistan’s higher education landscape.
