MARDAN: The rescue operation following the devastating cloudburst in Darwoli area of Gadoon has been officially concluded. According to Mardan Commissioner Nisar Ahmed, the death toll has reached 41, with all bodies recovered from the debris after tireless efforts by rescue teams working around the clock. Thirty-seven people died in Dalorai, while four others lost their lives in the nearby village of Sarkoi, bringing the total death toll to 41. The two-day-long operation saw participation from over 200 personnel of Rescue 1122 from Mardan, Swabi, and Nowshera, the personnel of Pak Army SSG, volunteers from Civil Defence, Alkhidmat Foundation, and local residents also played a crucial role in the relief efforts. Commissioner Mardan Division Nisar Ahmed, along with Swabi Deputy Commissioner, personally supervised the rescue operation and visited the site to boost the morale of the rescue teams. The district administration was commended for effectively managing the care of both victims and rescue workers. Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, visited Swabi on Tuesday to assess the situation. He directed the administration to expedite the rescue operation and ensure full support to the affected families.
