PESHAWAR: Adviser to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Information, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif has said that distribution of relief cheques in flood-affected districts is continuing under the special directives of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. In a statement on Sunday, Barrister Saif said that compensation worth Rs. 614 million has been provided to the families of martyrs and Rs. 15.9 million to the injured so far. He added that cheques have already been handed over to the families of 307 martyrs, while the remaining 89 families will soon receive their compensation. The CM has increased the “Shuhada Package” from Rs. 1 million to Rs. 2 million, he said. Similarly, compensation cheques have been issued to 34 injured persons, while the remaining 144 injured will soon receive theirs. Barrister Saif further stated that payments of Rs. 15,000 per family to flood victims through a digital application have also started. The purpose of the app, he said, is to ensure transparency and timely disbursement. For the first time in the province’s history, compensation payments are being made at such a fast pace. He added that surveys of fully and partially damaged houses are underway. Once completed, compensation will be provided to homeowners. On the CM’s directives, house compensation has also been doubled from Rs. 500,000 to Rs. 1 million for completely destroyed houses, and from Rs. 250,000 to Rs. 500,000 for partially damaged houses.
