KARACHI: On the invitation of Ghais Welfare & Educational Foundation, well-known social activist, former Member of National Assembly, and founder of the “Fix It” campaign, Mr. Alamgir Khan (leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) visited a school set up for nomadic children in Karachi under Ghais Foundation’s Jhuggi Education Project.
The Chairman of Ghais Foundation, Hafiz Bilal Basheer, warmly welcomed the honorable guest.
During the visit, Mr. Alamgir Khan met the children, observed the teaching process, and appreciated the efforts of the foundation. He said: “Bringing education to these slum areas is a revolutionary step. What Ghais Foundation is doing is truly admirable.”
He further added “According to Pakistan’s Constitution, every child has the right to education. Sadly, over 6 million children in Sindh are still out of school and deprived of this basic right. It’s the government’s responsibility to fix this, but it has continuously failed. In such times, organizations like Ghais Foundation bring hope. They are filling the gap and laying the foundation for a brighter future for our nation.”
Later, Chairman Hafiz Bilal Basheer thanked Mr. Alamgir Khan and said: “Children from nomadic communities live in very poor conditions and deserve our attention. We started this mission in 2011, and our goal is to set up at least one educational center in every slum area. Alhamdulillah, we are successfully running 13 slum schools across different cities in Pakistan. No one comes to these areas because of the poor living conditions and garbage piles nearby but we see stars of the future in these children. We are grateful you came, encouraged these children, and lifted the spirits of our entire team.”
At the end of the visit, school bags were distributed among the children and joy and hope lit up their little faces.
