Bajaur: A major development has emerged in Bajaur during the ongoing crackdown against narcotics, where 34 police personnel have been suspended on charges of alleged links with drug traffickers. Confirming the action, District Police Officer (DPO) Bajaur, Waqas Rafiq, stated that serious allegations have been leveled against the suspended officials for maintaining connections with elements involved in the drug trade, following which departmental proceedings have been initiated in light of preliminary evidence.
According to DPO Waqas Rafiq, no leniency will be shown in ensuring discipline and transparency within the police force, and if the allegations are proven, strict action will be taken in accordance with the law and departmental rules. He made it clear that there is no place for “black sheep” within the police in the fight against drug traffickers.
It is worth noting that previously as well, several police officials in Bajaur were suspended over allegations of links with drug dealers, while some were dismissed from service after the completion of inquiries. These measures reflect the seriousness and commitment of the district police administration to eradicate the menace of narcotics.
Meanwhile, public circles in Bajaur have welcomed the decision of the DPO, terming it a positive step. Citizens stated that drugs are a social evil that is destroying the future of the younger generation, and indiscriminate action against drug traffickers and their facilitators is essential to save society from this destructive trend. Public representatives and social leaders have also expressed hope that such measures will further restore public trust in the police and strengthen efforts to make Bajaur drug-free.
