PROVINCE REPORT

QUETTA: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has foiled a major drug smuggling attempt by recovering 60 kilograms of hashish concealed in a secret cavity beneath the floor of an ambulance near Sona Khan Chowk, Quetta, and arresting a key suspect involved in the trafficking network.

According to the ANF spokesperson, the operation was conducted on the basis of intelligence reports that traffickers intended to transport a large consignment of narcotics from Mastung to Quetta under the cover of an ambulance.

The ANF maintained continuous surveillance and implemented a coordinated operational strategy to intercept the vehicle and successfully thwart the smuggling attempt.

Initial investigations revealed that the drugs were being transported from Mastung to Quetta. A case has been registered against the arrested suspect under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, while further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other members of the network.

The spokesperson noted that the use of ambulances for criminal activities such as drug trafficking not only exposes the tactics of smugglers but also undermines the sanctity of emergency medical services.

In a similar operation recently, the ANF foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics from Balochistan to Sindh in Shikarpur, recovering drugs concealed in secret compartments of an ambulance.

The latest operation reflects the ANF’s continued commitment to combating drug trafficking and strengthening efforts to achieve a Drug-Free Pakistan.
