Dera Ismail Khan:Another case of polio has been confirmed in the southern district of Tank, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, raising the total number of reported cases in Pakistan to 13 this year. According to the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), the latest case was detected in an 18-year-old female patient, with confirmation of the poliovirus by the Polio Laboratory at the National Institute of Health (NIH).
NEOC officials highlighted that access to certain areas in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remains a significant challenge, hindering timely vaccination efforts. However, coordinated efforts are underway in collaboration with provincial and district administrations to ensure every child is reached.
Parents are strongly urged to take the threat of the virus seriously and ensure their children receive oral polio vaccines during every national campaign. The NEOC further emphasized the importance of completing the full course of routine immunizations to protect children from polio and other preventable diseases.
