Bajaur: Addressing a press conference at the Bajaur Press Club, Nawab Khan, Dawood Jan, and Bakhti Rawan—residents of Arang in Tehsil Utmankhel—alleged that they are being prevented from constructing a house on their own legally owned land, leaving them in severe mental and financial distress.
According to the affectees, they were in the process of building a residential house on their land when the local SHO summoned them and informed them that Section 4 had been imposed on the said property, forcing them to halt construction. They stated that this is their only piece of land and they have no alternative place for residence.
During the press conference, they referred to their tribal background, saying they belong to the poor “Malyan” tribe, which has historically faced difficulties in acquiring land, and now they fear being deprived of their existing property as well.
The affectees emotionally stated that if they are not granted the right to live on their land, they may be forced to take an extreme step, as they have no other shelter or means of residence.
They appealed to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Suhail Afridi, along with the Inspector General of Police, DPO, and Deputy Commissioner Bajaur, to take immediate notice of the matter and allow them to construct their house on their land.
The affectees warned that if justice is not served, they would be compelled to commit suicide.
