PESHAWAR : Abdal Sikandari Adabi Karwan (ASAK) has decided to honor renowned short-story writer and educationist Professor Aasia Bibi with a special award in recognition of her literary contributions and her short-story collection, “The Scene of the Setting Moon.”
ASAK founder Bilal Sikandari said the organization’s committee thoroughly reviewed Professor Aasia Bibi’s overall literary contributions as well as her collection and, after an in-depth assessment, decided to present her with the special award. He said Aasia Bibi has established a distinctive identity in the field of short-story writing, and her literary contributions are highly commendable.
Bilal Sikandari said that the number of women writers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is relatively low, making it particularly important to encourage women writers and recognize their literary achievements. He said that one of ASAK’s objectives is to encourage literary figures and highlight their creative contributions.
He further said that a special literary session in honor of Professor Aasia Bibi would be organized soon, with ASAK’s founder, president and other office-bearers attending. During the ceremony, Professor Aasia Bibi will be presented with a traditional shawl and the special literary award.
Bilal Sikandari expressed hope that such initiatives would encourage women, as well as other members of the literary community, and contribute to the promotion of literary activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
