NAGOYA, JAPAN: The 20th Asian Games 2026 concluded with a colourful and spectacular closing ceremony at Nagoya Mizuho Stadium after 16 days of intense competition involving athletes from 45 Asian countries.

The ceremony featured traditional Japanese performances, a laser light show and fireworks, followed by a farewell parade of athletes and flag bearers. The Pakistani contingent also participated in the parade.

Pakistan competed in 11 sports and secured four medals, including one silver and three bronze. Pakistan’s cricket team won silver, while volleyball, hockey and shooting produced bronze medals.

In his closing address, the President of the Olympic Council of Asia praised Japan, the organisers and volunteers for their hospitality and highlighted the role of sports in promoting unity and friendship among Asian nations.

The Asian Games flag was formally lowered and handed over to representatives of Doha, Qatar, host of the 21st Asian Games in 2030. A special Doha 2030 presentation was also shown at the stadium.

The ceremony concluded with the extinguishing of the Asian Games flame and a spectacular fireworks display, bringing Nagoya 2026 to a memorable close.
