PESHAWAR: Assistant Commissioner Matni, Saeed Manan, has announced an ambitious plan to transform Tehsil Matni—particularly the area of Pishtakhra and its surroundings—into a model zone for healthy and positive youth activities.
Speaking to the media on the previous day, he revealed that a comprehensive strategy has already been devised and practical implementation will begin soon. On the occasion, Managing Director of Malik International Cricket Academy, Malik Farman Ali, was also present.
Saeed Manan emphasized that steering young people away from negative influences and engaging them in sports and recreational activities has become a pressing need of the time. He highlighted that sports serve as a powerful and effective tool in building a constructive and disciplined society.
“Cricket is currently one of the most popular sports globally, including in Pakistan and particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Therefore, our initial focus will be on attracting youth towards cricket,” he stated. He further added that alongside cricket, other sports would also be introduced in phases to establish a strong sporting culture in Tehsil Matni.
The Assistant Commissioner noted that sports provide a vital platform to identify and nurture hidden talent among youth, enabling them to represent at national and international levels. He reaffirmed his commitment to making Matni a cradle of sports through coordinated planning and collective efforts.
He also appreciated the contributions of Malik Farman Ali in promoting sports not only in Pishtakhra but across Peshawar and the province.
On the occasion, Malik Farman Ali welcomed the initiative, stating that engaging youth in positive activities is essential for societal development. He assured full support for the mission.
Local elders expressed optimism that effective implementation of the plan would not only provide a healthy environment for the youth but also pave the way for talent identification and development, ultimately bringing pride to the province and the country.
