BAJAUR: A bomb blast in the Siddiqabad area of Khar Tehsil, Bajaur, claimed the lives of four people, including the Assistant Commissioner and the Tehsildar, while 17 others sustained injuries. Four of the injured were in critical condition and were shifted to Peshawar for advanced medical treatment.
According to details, the incident occurred around 2 PM on Wednesday near the Siddiqabad checkpoint on Nawagai Road. The blast targeted the vehicle of Assistant Commissioner Nawagai, Faisal Ismail, as he was en route from Nawagai to the district headquarters in Khar. The explosion was so powerful that it was heard from a considerable distance.
As a result of the blast, Assistant Commissioner Faisal Ismail, Tehsildar Nawagai Abdul Wakeel Khan, police constable Zahid, and a passerby named Fazal Manan were martyred. Seventeen others were injured in the attack.
The injured include police personnel: Constable Ayaz, Constable Muhammad Zameen, Constable Syed Rehman, Constable Fazal Haq, and Sub-Inspector Noor Hakeem. Among the injured civilians are: Waqar Khan, Hayatullah, Umar, Irfan, Abdul Samad, Jameel, Fazal Badshah, Zair Gul, Fazal Hakeem, Bilal, Ataullah, and Zahir.
Upon receiving information about the incident, local residents and rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene and began relief operations. The bodies and the injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar.
The funeral prayers for the martyrs were offered at the Police Lines in Civil Colony, Khar. The funeral was attended by Deputy Commissioner Bajaur Shahid Ali, District Police Officer Waqas Rafiq, Commandant Bajaur Scouts, government officials, relatives of the martyrs, and a large number of local residents.
A police contingent presented a guard of honor to the martyrs, and officials laid floral wreaths on their coffins. After the funeral rites, the bodies were sent to their respective native towns for burial.
