Peshawar: Sajad Ali Orakzai, Chairman of the Pakistan Directors, Producers, Writers and Artists Association (Registered), has termed the decision to expand the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet as a welcome, positive, and timely step, and paid tribute to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In his statement, he said that the Chief Minister’s decision is of great political, cultural, and administrative significance. For nearly a year, the Department of Culture and Tourism had been functioning without a permanent minister, which caused cultural activities to slow down and left the artist community facing uncertainty and disappointment, while several development projects were also affected.

Sajad Ali Orakzai expressed hope that after the cabinet expansion, the Culture and Tourism Department would be provided with dynamic and visionary leadership, which would accelerate progress on stalled projects and help resolve the issues faced by artists, writers, directors, musicians, and others associated with the creative sector.

He further stated that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a province rich in natural beauty, historical heritage, cultural diversity, and tourist destinations. If this sector is given serious and sustained attention, it can enhance the province’s positive image and create new opportunities for employment and economic growth.

According to him, the Chief Minister’s positive and wise decision has created a renewed sense of hope among cultural circles, and it is expected that in the coming days, the province’s cultural and tourism identity will be effectively promoted at national and international levels, along with practical steps to resolve the problems faced by the artist community.
