PESHAWAR: Deputy Commissioner Peshawar, Captain (R) Sanaullah Khan, chaired a high-level meeting on dengue prevention and control in the provincial capital.
The meeting was attended by Member of the National Assembly Arbab Sher Ali, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Finance) Muhammad Asghar Sorani, administrative officers, officials from the Health Department, and representatives of other relevant departments.
Officials briefed the participants on the current dengue situation and preventive measures. The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to implement comprehensive anti-dengue measures, conduct daily operations to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, and intensify public awareness and community outreach campaigns.
The meeting was informed that dengue mosquitoes breed in clean, stagnant water. Citizens were advised to prevent water from accumulating in and around their homes, keep water storage tanks properly covered, and avoid leaving water standing in air coolers or other containers. They were also encouraged to install mosquito screens on doors and windows and ensure that all family members, particularly children, wear full-sleeved clothing to reduce the risk of mosquito bites.
Captain (R) Sanaullah Khan said that all preventive measures under the Dengue Action Plan 2026 were being implemented across Peshawar. He directed all departments to present progress reports at the next review meeting in accordance with their responsibilities under the action plan.
The Deputy Commissioner also appealed to the public to strictly follow the recommended precautionary measures and cooperate with the authorities to help prevent the spread of dengue fever.
