PESHAWAR: Chamkani clinched the Peshawar Inter-School Hockey Tournament title after defeating Cantt-II 3-0 in the final of the Under-15 National School Hockey Tournament, organised by the Directorate of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The tournament featured teams from various schools, providing young players an opportunity to showcase their hockey skills.
In the final, Chamkani dominated the match with impressive teamwork, quick passing and a strong defensive strategy. The team scored three goals, while Cantt-II failed to find the net despite making efforts to stage a comeback.
At the closing ceremony, Chamkani received a cash prize of Rs15,000 along with the winner’s trophy, while runner-up Cantt-II was awarded Rs10,000 and a trophy.
District Sports Officer Peshawar Ahmad Zaman was the chief guest. Hockey Association representatives Zahir Shah Lala, Zia Banoori and other officials were also present.
The chief guest and other dignitaries distributed prizes among the winning and runner-up teams.
Speaking on the occasion, Ahmad Zaman said school-level hockey competitions were important for identifying young talent and providing emerging players with opportunities to represent Pakistan at national and international levels.
He said the Directorate of Sports KP was organising various sporting events to promote sports activities and encourage the younger generation to adopt healthy lifestyles.
He congratulated all participating teams, players, coaches, officials and the Hockey Association on the successful organisation of the tournament.
Participants appreciated the Directorate of Sports KP for promoting school-level hockey and expressed hope that such competitions would help identify emerging talent in the province.
