PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi received Sultan Ali Allana, Chairman of Habib Bank Limited (HBL) and Director of the Agha Khan Fund for Economic Development, for discussions on investment opportunities and economic development initiatives in the province. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi was also present during the meeting. The meeting focused on avenues for investment promotion in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and a range of matters of mutual interest. Discussions included a detailed review of the prospects for establishing an Aga Khan Hospital in Peshawar. The participants agreed to constitute joint working teams to advance the initiative and expedite the necessary preparatory work. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi described the proposed Agha Khan Hospital as a transformative project that would significantly enhance access to high quality and specialized healthcare services for the people of the province. He reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to extending all possible facilitation and institutional support to ensure the project’s fast track advancement. The meeting also explored opportunities for investment in digital infrastructure, particularly the establishment of data centers in the province. Both sides exchanged views on the potential for investment in the sports sector. Discussions were held on investment prospects in the minerals, natural resources, and mining sectors. The Chief Minister noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa possesses substantial mineral wealth and offers considerable opportunities for responsible and sustainable investment that can contribute to economic growth, industrial development, and job creation. The participants also reviewed opportunities for promoting tourism and attracting investment in the province’s tourism sector. The Chief Minister highlighted Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s unique natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and diverse tourism assets, emphasizing the provincial government’s ongoing efforts to create an enabling environment for tourism related investments. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration in key economic sectors and leveraging emerging investment opportunities to support sustainable development, enhance economic activity, and generate employment opportunities across the province.
