DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Commissioner Dera Division, Dawood Khan, has stated that in light of provincial government directives, the administration is on high alert to tackle any potential risks arising from recent stormy rains. Departments including Rescue 1122, WASA, Assistant Commissioners, Irrigation, and Tehsildars have been mobilized to respond promptly to any emergency situation.
He said that, الحمدللہ, due to timely measures taken by the administration, no loss of life or property has been reported.
The Commissioner further shared that after the increase in petroleum prices, consultations with transporters have been completed to minimize the burden on the common man. On the directives of the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, special instructions have been issued to keep fares as low as possible. TMAs and bus stand contractors have been directed not to collect stand fees from vehicles for one month to prevent an increase in transport fares. The provincial government will compensate TMAs through special funds in this regard.
He expressed these views during a special media briefing held at his office, which was also attended by Deputy Commissioner Abdul Nasir Khan and Assistant to Commissioner (Political & Development) Sajjad Baloch.
Commissioner Dawood Khan announced that a three-day anti-polio campaign will commence from April 13 across 145 union councils in Dera Ismail Khan. He noted that no polio virus was detected in the environment last year and urged parents to ensure vaccination of children under five years of age.
He further stated that construction work on the Agricultural University Dera building is underway at Ratta Kulachi. Regarding the Girls Cadet College Dera, he said interviews for drivers, naib qasids, and operators will be completed within the next couple of days, while teachers will be selected through ETEA tests. Procurement of laboratory equipment is being carried out through e-PAD, with an estimated cost of Rs. 60 million.
The Board of Governors had initially approved admissions for 90 candidates in the first semester; however, due to limited building capacity, it has now been decided—on a temporary basis—to admit 30 students. Out of these, 40 percent seats have been allocated to candidates from Dera Division.
He also informed that, under provincial government directives, online applications are being received until April 8, 2026, for recruitment on a one-year contract in smaller hospitals of Dera Division. The vacancies include 153 Medical Officers, 53 Dental Surgeons, and 127 Nurses. The entire recruitment process is being supervised by the office of the Additional Commissioner Dera.
