DI Khan: Commissioner Dera Zafarul Islam Khattak has said that, with the special interest and efforts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and particularly the Chief Minister, Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, work is progressing rapidly on mega projects in Dera Ismail Khan. These include the construction of the Agricultural University’s own building, commencement of classes at the Girls Cadet College Dera, construction of two flyovers, and various sports facilities projects.

He was chairing a review meeting in his office on the performance of ongoing and mega development projects. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Dera Farhan Khan, Assistant Commissioner Pool and Development Sajjad Baloch, and officers from Planning and Development, Health, Irrigation, C&W, Sports, MTI and other departments.

The Commissioner said that Rs 158 million have been released for construction on 300 kanals of land allocated for the Agricultural University. Similarly, PC-2 has been prepared for the Girls Cadet College, and classes will temporarily start in the former Gomal Medical College building by mid-December this year. Renovation and beautification work is currently in progress.

On the two flyovers, Commissioner Khattak said that significant progress has been made: 56 out of 75 pillars for the Tank Adda flyover and 63 out of 125 pillars for the Sabzi Mandi flyover have been completed.

He also shared that the provincial government has released Rs 220 million for sports facilities, including the construction of a fairground, squash and badminton courts, and water supply to the sports complex. He emphasized that no compromise will be made on the quality and standards of these projects, ensuring timely completion so that the public benefits as early as possible.
