PESHAWAR : A workshop aimed at educating construction workers about their legal rights and workplace safety was held in Peshawar under the banner of the ACE Employees Union, with the support of Building and Wood Workers International (BWI). The event brought together laborers and their representatives from various construction sites, including the Mohmand Dam project. Key speakers included Muhammad Ishtiaq Work, President of ACE Employees Union; Shahid Imran, Vice President; Asad Mehmood, General Secretary of the Pakistan Workers Federation and a master trainer; and trainer Sameen Khokhar. Speakers highlighted the ongoing development of large-scale construction projects across the country, noting that in many cases, essential health and safety standards are not being upheld. They stressed the importance of ensuring worker protection and called for immediate action from relevant authorities to address these concerns.“The ACE Employees Union is committed to raising awareness among workers so they can safeguard their health and lives,” said Muhammad Ishtiaq Work. “At the same time, we continue to inform government institutions about the ground realities. Participants were briefed on the importance of providing timely monthly wages and other essential facilities to workers in order to alleviate their challenges. The union also announced that it will continue its awareness campaign to advocate for the rights and welfare of construction laborers.
