RAWALPINDI: A delegation of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE), led by Chairman Kazim Khan, called on Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) on Thursday to discuss media coordination and recent security developments.
During the meeting, the CPNE delegation commended the armed forces for what it described as effective coordination with state institutions in addressing regional security challenges.
Briefing the editors, the DG ISPR underlined ISPR’s efforts to counter misinformation campaigns, stressing the need for credible and timely information during periods of national importance. “Our youth remain Pakistan’s greatest strength, and their optimism reflects the country’s potential for sustained progress,” he noted.
On the security situation in Balochistan, the DG ISPR asserted that hostile propaganda would not succeed, citing the resilience of local communities and their growing awareness of external interference. He also reaffirmed the armed forces’ capacity to tackle terrorism and unconventional threats, provided strong public support continues.
The military spokesperson appreciated the Pakistani media’s professional conduct in recent months, particularly its balanced coverage in the face of competing narratives from regional players. He also emphasised the importance of sustained coordination between civil and military institutions to counter emerging challenges.
The meeting concluded with the CPNE delegation presenting a commemorative shield to the DG ISPR. The engagement reflects CPNE’s regular interactions with national leadership on issues concerning press freedom, media responsibility, and national security.
